Before the release of Swing Time, African-Americans’ Swing music had gained popularity in nightclubs uptown, and Harlem was the place to be! Venues such as the Cotton Club and the Savoy gave birth to the Lindy Hop where dancers playfully demonstrated their athleticism to the swinging jazz sounds of Chick Webb, Cab Calloway and the Duke and the Count Ellington and Basie.
