Food, music and fun as we wrap up a month of ART UPTOWN!
Performances by Hazzanista / Eliana Kissner and Matt Davis Trio.
Matt Davisis a guitarist, teacher, and composer based in New York. Hailed as “Inspired” by Downbeat magazine, “incredible” by the Philadelphia Daily News, and “eloquent” by Jazztimes Magazine, He is a recipient of numerous awards and honors including grants from Chamber Music America, ASCAP, the American Composers Forum, The National Parks Service, and The Banff Center.
Eliana “Hazzanista” Kissner will be singing songs in judeo-español (Judeo-spanish) as a means of exploring the interconnectedness of the many communities that comprise Washington Heights. She will also perform Jewish spiritual poetry known as “piyut” set in a modern musical context. Through this music that stems from her specific Jewish identity, she explores the importance of meaning, history, and ritual for people of all and no faiths.
