Artists :: Group Shows :: Open Studios :: Venues

Artists

Visual artists, singers, musicians, dancers, poets, etc., who reside in Washington Heights or Inwood are invited to participate in the 2012 Uptown Arts Stroll. To do so, please follow these simple steps:

  1. Identify potential venues or find new venues on your own.
  2. Contact the identified venue(s), show them your portfolio, and make arrangements to show your work during the Uptown Arts Stroll or longer.
  3. When you have booked a venue, let us know about the arrangements — send us the information using the submission form.

We will add your information to the Exhibitions page or the Events Schedule. Note: if you let us know by the print deadline of 25 April 2012, your information will also appear in the Uptown Arts Stroll Guide being published by The Manhattan Times.

IMPORTANT: You hang your work at your own risk — venues are NOT responsible for your artwork.

Group Shows

There will be several group shows on different days in different locations during the Uptown Arts Stroll. Call the organizers if you would like to participate in these. (More group shows will be added soon to this list.)

Art in the Garden
“Art in the Garden” is accepting submissions for its annual exhibition of Washington Heights/Inwood area artists to be held Saturday 9 June (rain date 16 June), 1–5 p.m. at the Riverside-Inwood Neighborhood Garden, at the intersection of Broadway, Dyckman Street and Riverside Drive. To be considered, please send two images of your work (JPG format) with sizes and description of medium to Donna Deming (curator), Donna[at]BreakThroughLifeCoaching.net, by 30 April 2012. Note: this is an outdoor venue — please choose art accordingly. Artist will set up and take down their own work. If there are musicians who would like to play for a 20-minute slot during the event, please contact Donna. Poetry and prose readers are also welcome.

Open Studios

The Open Studios are when local artists open their studios to visitors. The open studios have been a success during previous Strolls as they provide a closer look to the art produced in Northern Manhattan. Open Studios will take place on Sunday 10 June, 1–6 p.m. To include your studio for visits that day, please fill out and submit the open studios listing form. Note: if you let us know by the print deadline of 25 April 2012, your information will also appear in the Uptown Arts Stroll Guide being published by The Manhattan Times.
