Artists
Visual artists, singers, musicians, dancers, poets, etc., who reside in Washington Heights or Inwood are invited to participate in the 2011 Uptown Arts Stroll. To do so, please follow these simple steps:
- Identify potential venues or find new venues on your own.
- Contact the identified venue(s), show them your portfolio, and make arrangements to show your work during the Uptown Arts Stroll or longer.
- When you have booked a venue, let us know about the arrangements — send us the information using the submission form.
We will add your information to the Exhibitions page or the Events Schedule. Note: if you let us know by the print deadline of 18 April 2011, your information will also appear in the Uptown Arts Stroll Guide being published by The Manhattan Times.
IMPORTANT: You hang your work at your own risk — venues are NOT responsible for your artwork.
Group Shows
There will be several group shows on different days in different locations during the Uptown Arts Stroll. Call the organizers if you would like to participate in these.
Art Block during the Carnaval del Boulevard
Saturday 4 June, 11 a.m. – 5 p.m.
St. Nicholas Ave. beginning at 181st St.
During the Carnaval del Boulevard, there will be a block dedicated to the arts and crafts for the community. If you are a visual or performing artist that would like to participate, please get in touch with NoMAA using the contact form.
Word Up: A Community Bookshop in Washington Heights

Blooming Arts Festival

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is looking for visual and performing artists living in Washington Heights and Inwood to participate in the Blooming Arts Festival. All ages encouraged to participate — family-appropriate material only. Visual art will be exhibited in the 2nd Floor gallery with an afternoon reception. Performing artists will showcase their work on the 1st floor from 6 to 8 p.m. The church building offers an advanced overhead sound system, piano, organ, elevated performance area, as well as a hardwood floor space (for dancers). Large reception to follow. Blooming Arts Festival Committee will provide support staff for all artists and performances held in the church building. Uptown Community Church Neighborhood Showcase

Accepting artists while space is available to exhibit a single 2D work in any medium. The show is looking to allow aspiring local students to show their work next to exhibiting professionals, and everyone in between. Subject matter is open, with the caveat that it should be easily appreciable for our neighborhood’s families. Open Studios
The Open Studios are when local artists open their studios to visitors. The open studios have been a success during previous Strolls as they provide a closer look to the art produced in Northern Manhattan. The Open Studios will take place on Sunday 12 June, 1–6pm. To include your studio for visits that weekend, please fill out and submit the open studios listing form.

- Venue name
- Street address
- Contact person, including phone number and/or e-mail address
- What types of art you would like to host: visual, music, performance art, etc.
