The Scandinavian Music Festival in Fort Tryon Park is a unique series of three concerts held on Sundays in June. In the beautiful surroundings of the Billings Lawn, below the Heather Garden, and with spectacular views of the Hudson River, residents and visitors gather to explore and learn about the special music of Scandinavia, or to just enjoy and relax on the lawn.
All concerts are performed by musicians of the Scandia Symphony and guest artists.
The concert on 11 June will feature the Scandia Brass Quintet. Finnish guest artist and the Finlandia Foundation “Performer of the Year,” Pirjo Polari-Khan, will share her poetry and music for the young and young at heart on 18 June. The last concert, on 25 June will feature the Scandia String Orchestra, conducted by Music Director Dorrit Matson.
