As part of Garden Days at Fort Tryon Park, take a guided tour of the Alpine and Heather Gardens which were part of the original Olmsted Brothers design. Learn more about the 500 varieties of plants, trees, and shrubs and how its became a garden with year-round horticultural interest. Horticulturist John Kelly, who leads the team that sustains the garden, will talk about the garden’s evolution from the park’s dedication by John D. Rockefeller Jr. in 1935 to the present.
These tours are wheelchair-accessible but persons with mobility issues may find them challenging because of the park’s many steep paths.
