Signing in Puerto Rican: A Hearing Son and His Deaf Family
Tuesday, June 8, 6:30-8pm
The only child of deaf Puerto Rican migrants, Dr. Andres Torres grew up in Washington Heights in a large extended family that included several deaf aunts and uncles. In his book he opens a window into the little known culture of deaf Latinos chasing the American dream. Books will be available for signing.

An interactive participation in Amir Parsa’s ‘scriptage’ and ‘a.p.e.l.s’ (performative reading and writing actions) taking place in the streets of Paris on June 12 within the “Paris en toutes lettres” literary festival. Online and at a communal gathering in NoMAA’s gallery space, the interactions constitute a parallel fragment to an ongoing literary epic that challenges literary structures and traditions, and the nature of poetic creation, reader interaction, and the dissemination and publication of works.
