Essentials of Grant Writing

This two-hour workshop led by grant writing specialist Melissa Sandor is a rapid-fire writing session. Participants will learn how to craft a project description that can be used to develop full grant proposals and project narratives. A brief overview of proposal basics will also be covered. Handouts will be supplied for further reading.

Activist Love Letters – Immigration and Heroes from Home!

An emphatic thank you for those who stand strong for their beliefs. This two-hour session explores the waves of immigration of different ethnic communities, from the era of the Dyckman family to families of the present day. We will learn about everyday people at the forefront of championing change, promoting tolerance and humanizing the immigration journey. In partnership with Dyckman Farmhouse Museum, “Activist Love Letters” offers a forum for everyday people to see themselves as movement builders learning to intersect with art, culture and history through letter writing and dialogue. Led by Monica O. Montgomery, Strategic Director, Museum Hue.

Tango for You 2

More than 100 years since its inception in the Rio de la Plata (River Plate), tango has a rich history with different eras and influences. Learn how it has become an international craze. Learn about its health benefits, too. Screening of the film “Tango” (1933, in Spanish with English subtitles) followed by an interactive lecture led by Polly Ferman, renowned pianist and cultural entrepreneur.

Photographs to Final Prints

A two-part workshop on the process of saving digital and instant film photographs, choosing the right media, Photoshop color settings and tools, and preparation of images for print. The workshop will also cover important factors that build a healthy relationship between an artist and printer when it comes to collaborating. This workshop is appropriate for emerging and mid-career artists/photographers. Led by fine art printer Tone Taghon and art photographer Fabiola Jean-Louis.

Best Practices in Marketing and Promotion

Join the artists of Uptown Arts Review as they share their processes and visions, followed by the workshop “Best practices in marketing and promotion,” where curator Andrea Arroyo will share the best art marketing tools, including online and hard-copy portfolios and other promotional materials.
